A Family Affair: The Gipsy Kings to Hit the Road for the 2024 “Generation” Tour

For decades, Gipsy Kings have been delighting fans worldwide with their unique blend of rumba, salsa and pop. With hits like “Djobi, Djoba,” “Bamboleo,” and “Volare,” they’ve earned two Grammy Awards and sold over 20 million records globally. Now, embarking on their Generation tour across 12 cities in the U.S, they bring these classics – along with fresh music – and energy to their devoted fanbase.

“We do music for all kinds of people, and to throw lots of parties too,” said Tonino Baliardo, Maestro and Founding Member of the Gipsy Kings.

“It’s a pleasure for us – music fills the entire world. Let the party continue,” said Loukas, the group’s lead singer.

Their latest tour follows the success of their 2023 Renaissance tour, which supported their latest album of the same name. It marked their first after an eight-year hiatus from album releases. Tonino dedicated the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic to work on it. “I like working in the studio to create something new,” he said.

“[Tonino] had a lot of inspiration in this time where he couldn’t play live music,” Loukas explains, “and he’s been in the studio working on his compositions and lyrics. That’s why it’s called “Renaissance,” because it follows a difficult time for the entire world.”

The album features brand-new music, and as the group prepared for their stage comeback, they anticipated a blend of excitement and nerves. “Music changes every year,” Lukas explains. “It’s something that we take seriously because working on a brand-new album, we have to think about what’s people going to like, or what’s going to remind people of the Gipsy Kings sound. That’s really important.”

In the upcoming Generation tour, the group will be performing new songs, along with their classics.

“We share music, but we share it with heart,” adds Loukas. “It’s music that touches the soul of every person, and everyone that comes to see us in concert can sing, cry, or dance.”
