Juan Gonzalez Returns To Telemundo 39 As Chief Meteorologist

Telemundo 39 / KTAZ, today announced that Juan González has been named Chief Meteorologist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona. The newscast airs Monday through Friday at 11:00 AM, 4:00 PM, 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM and on weekends at 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Noticiero Telemundo Arizona is simulcast on Telemundo 40 / KHRR. His on-air debut will be Monday, June 6th.

He is no stranger to our audiences; his return as a Chief Meteorologist will better serve our community and continue to enhance the Autoridad en el Tiempo Brand,” said Noe Gonzalez, Vice President of News for Telemundo Arizona. “Telemundo Arizona has been recognized for having the most accurate forecast in Spanish by WeatheRate and Juan’s leadership is essential to continue providing the best weather-related stories that impact everyone in our local communities.”

González worked as meteorologist for Telemundo 39 from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, he took the role of Meteorologist and Weather Team Leader for Telemundo 31/WTMO.  Prior to his experiences with the Telemundo stations, he was a Weather Anchor for TeleCubanacan in Cuba in 2015.

Juan is the recipient of four Emmy® awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Rocky Mountain Southwest chapter including best Weather Anchor in 2018. He obtained his degree in Meteorology from Instituto Superior de Tecnologias y Ciencias Aplicadas (inSTEC) in his native country of Cuba.
