Mi Familia Vota: New State Director

After a long and exhaustive search, Mi Familia Vota has announced the hiring of their new  Arizona state director Carolina Rodriguez-Greer.

To commemorate this critical hire Hector Sanchez Barba, Mi Familia Vota Executive Director and CEO released the following statement:

“Arizona is a state unlike any other. It is the birthplace of some of the nation’s most draconian immigration and anti-voting legislation. After years of hard work from Mi Familia Vota and others, it is now also the home of some of the most politically active Latinos in America. We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Carolina Rodriguez-Greer, an incredible activist and leader. We are thrilled to have her join our team and bring her vast experience in civic engagement to help positively shape the present and future of Arizona and our country. We welcome her now at a time when the fight to build Latino political power and create a better Arizona for our community and all Arizonans has never been more critical.”

Carolina Rodriguez-Greer has been a lifelong advocate for educational access, equity, and civic engagement. Born in Sinaloa, Mexico, Carolina immigrated to the United States at 8 years of age with her mom and two younger siblings in search of a better life and future.

Setting roots in Tucson, Arizona, Carolina attended Arizona’s public schools and grew into a passionate advocate for educational opportunities and civic engagement.

She attended the University of Arizona where she received a bachelor’s degree in Business and a Masters’s Degree in Higher Education Policy.

Following graduate school, she served as a founding board member for ScholarshipsA-Z, a non-profit organization that advocates and supports immigrant students to access higher education.

During this time, she worked with local school districts and colleges to adjust their policies around supporting immigrant students and helped train hundreds of Arizona educators on how to be better allies to immigrant students in K-20.

Carolina has served on the Board of Directors of Las Adelitas Arizona, an organization committed to engaging Latinas in the political process and supporting Latinxas running for elected office.

In 2012 Carolina was introduced to Mi Familia Vota serving as a volunteer during several citizenship drives and throughout the years stepping up as a volunteer during election season.

She has committed much of her professional career to develop and leading educational access and retention programs in Pima and Maricopa Counties.

Before joining Mi Familia Vota, Carolina was the founding director of two TRIO programs at Arizona State University helping hundreds of first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities to enroll and graduate from college.

Carolina believes that knowledge is power – she is passionate about civic education and ensuring that as many Arizonans are knowledgeable and feel empowered to participate in our democracy. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband Alexis.

Mi Familia Vota builds Latino political power as a national civic engagement organization that unites Latino, immigrant, and allied communities to promote social and economic justice through citizenship workshops, voter registration, and voter participation. Mi Familia Vota has operations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and Texas.
