A recently released study by Neighborhoods.com examined the top American cities for freelancers in 2019 and ranked Tempe, Arizona #4. To determine the rankings, they analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data from more than 150 cities and compared those cities across five metrics:
- Median rent ($965 for Tempe)
- Average internet speed (39.76mbps for Tempe)
- Number of coffee shops per capita (15.7 per 100,000 for Tempe)
- Income taxes (based on the median freelancer income of $52,074, $10,089 for Tempe)
- Ease of getting around town (based on the average of combined walkability, transit and biking scores, 57 for Tempe)
