Tucson-based eegee’s has opened its first Valley location in Gilbert

July 15 was a day to celebrate in Gilbert! Tucson-based quick-service restaurant brand, eegee’s, threw open its doors to its first Valley location at the southwest corner of Baseline Road and Val Vista Drive.

The restaurant features dine-in and takeout, offering online ordering and contactless pick-up. For a full week after the grand opening, the wait to get a signature eegee’s frozen drinks, sandwich or fries was nearly two hours. But, this is eegee’s… If you know, then you know it’s worth the wait. In more good news, additional eegee’s locations are planned to open in the coming months.

Founded in 1971, eegee’s has cultivated a loyal following of Tucsonans and prides itself on its longstanding history of providing fresh, high-quality food at its now 28 locations with its opening in Gilbert.

At the center of the eegee’s menu universe is its signature frozen drink—an ice-cold concoction packed with chunks of real fruitthat meets at the virtual intersection of slushie, shaved and fruit. Everyday flavors on the menu include lemon, strawberry, pina colada and skinny berry. There is a new flavor that joins the eegee’s family and stays for the month. Past monthly flavors have included lucky lime, orange dream and mango tango.

There are also award-winning French fries, and signature subs and grinders. The specialty French fries with signature ranch dressing and bacon are always in high demand, as are the cheesy bacon fries. My favorite side is the cheese bacon fries with the chipotle ranch. One order is plenty for two people to share.

The eegee’s grinders are served on white, wheat or rye breadthat is baked fresh-baked daily. Other menu selections include salads like the Southwest chipotle ranch chicken, chopped Italian, farmhouse ranch chicken, and hot dogs, chili dogs, pretzels and chili. For updates on eegee’s Phoenix-area expansion plans, visit www.eegees.com/phoenix.

eegee’s has continued to keep the community at the core of its brand values, donating time, food, and funds to local charities, instituting a community recycling program called “Green for Green!” and running a program for training and employing people with developmental disabilities.
