In her first role since wrapping Modern Family, Sofia Vergara is set to star in a Netflix limited series about notorious drug trafficker Griselda Blanco.

Netflix announced today the release of a new limited-time series titled Griselda. The show will star and be executive-produced by Sofia Vergara.

The series will chronicle the real-life of Colombian businesswoman Griselda Blanco who created one of the most profitable drug cartels in history.

Blanco’s blend of charm and ruthlessness led her to be known as the Black Widow and the Cocaine Godmother.

The Show

The show will consist of six 50-minute episodes. All episodes will be directed by Andrés Baiz who also directed Netflix’s Narcos and Narcos: Mexico

Sofia

Griselda is the latest series from writer and executive producer Eric Newman. Newman, who served as showrunner for five seasons of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, will continue as an executive producer on the forthcoming third season of Narcos: Mexico. The Narcos creative team of Doug Miro, Andrés Baiz, and Carlo Bernard, will executive produce alongside Luis Balaguer.
