The popular Sonic sequel has been well received and hit record numbers at the box office this last Spring. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has a little bit of everything from friendship, inspiration, love to action and comedy. “It is something that we all need right now”, Lee Majdoub , who portrayed Agent Stone, said about the movie, adding that it was an honor to be invited back for the sequel and portray Agent Stone.
Majdoub was confident that the movie was going to do well, especially in the hands of director Jeff Fowler and the creative team.
Moreover, to see the fan response on how well it was received at the box office was a plus with the confidence the entire team had on the movie. Majdoud spoke of the tremendous respect and love the cast had for each other during the making of the movie, stating that it was contributing factor for the success of the movie.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Agent Stone is experiencing life without Dr. Robotnik and prepares for his return in search of the unstoppable hedgehog. Upon Dr. Robitnik’s return, Agent Stone joins Knuckles and the doctor as they plan to take down Sonic once again.
Sonic 2 introduces Knuckles and Tails to the sequel, which makes it different from its first installment.
Fans get to enjoy the characters on the screen similarly as in the cartoons and video games. Also, Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robitnik evolves, the character grows crazier, the mustache grows bigger as the story progresses, all while Sonic continues to struggle to be a hero and finding a place where he belongs. Majdoud described it as “an emotional journey of what it is like to grow up”.
Sonic 3 has been confirmed, however no details on the anticipated plot or the cast has been released yet.
When asked about the third installment, Majdoud is excited to see that Sonic is in the works and can’t wait to learn more about the production and the plans for Agent Stone. Majdoud enjoyed his role as Agent Stone and is hopeful for a return on Sonic 3.
When asked about his future projects following the beloved sequel, Majdoud shared that there are a couple of things he is trying to work out, although unable to share further details. He did add that he is happy, things are good, and life is good. Overall, he is grateful.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is now available to stream digitally on Paramount + and coming to Blue-Ray and DVD this summer on August 9, 2022.
