For some downtown Latin fun in downtown Phoenix, don’t look further than La Flor De Calabaza. Translating to “Squash Blossom”, this downtown restaurant and concert venue blends traditional Mexican cuisine and music to create one of the most unique places to relax in central Phoenix.
When it comes to food, La Flor De Calabaza has plenty of options for customers to enjoy. One of the highlights of the menu starts with the Empanadas. These doughy delights come in orders of 6 and are filled with smoky chorizo and cheese and comes with a tangy green salsa that helps balance the heaviness of the chorizo.
If you are looking for something more filling, the Enchiladas de Mole is a must-try. Made with shredded chicken and drenched in their signature mole poblano sauce, the enchiladas are perfect to kick off a night. If you feel like trying some of their cocktails the popular go tos are the Mexican Mai Tai and the Orgasmo, which is made with vodka peach liquor and piña colada.
Where La Flor really shines is in their entertainment. The restaurant will often host live music tributes of popular Rock En Espanol bands such as Mana, Caifanes, El Tri among others. If you’re interested in attending these tribute nights make sure to like and follow them on Facebook where you can get the most up-to-date information. La Flor has a small venue and limited capacity so make sure to be there early if you want to catch a show.
