Tucked in the heart of Mesa is a restaurant that’s as vibrant and inviting as its name—La Casa de las Flores. Owned by Daniel Rocha, this Mexican restaurant and bar has become more than just a place to eat; it’s a Valley favorite for bold flavors, floral-inspired cocktails, and colorful energy.

La Casa de las Flores opened three and a half years ago. The name was inspired after a conversation with Joy Gonzalez, a Las Vegas mixologist. “I told her to make something fresh, and thought, ‘What’s fresher than a flower every morning?’” Daniel said. That moment sparked the idea for a floral-themed cocktail menu.

Two customer favorites include Calendula, a tropical-floral cocktail with tequila, lemon, guava syrup, and cranberry juice, and Boca Dragón, a smoky-spicy mezcal drink with jalapeño, pineapple, lime, and a flaming dehydrated lime garnish.

Daniel credits his father—who sold tacos in Mexico City—for teaching him the food business and praises his brother Miguel Rocha and nephew Enrique Martinez for their partnership. Enrique’s mother passed just before the restaurant opened, and her second last name, Flores, felt like a sign that they had chosen the right name.

The food menu is just as thoughtful. Standouts include the handmade “Machetes,” nopal-stuffed quesadillas, and sizzling “Molcajetes,” served in lava rock bowls with steak, shrimp, chicken, and more.

Molcajetes are very common and popular in a lot of restaurants. But none of them are as good as ours,” Daniel laughs.

For a nostalgic touch, their mole enchiladas—made from scratch—are a customer favorite. “Most people who try them say, ‘This tastes like my grandma’s,’” Daniel shared. “We make our mole from scratch. It takes more time, but the results are worth it.”

The restaurant’s energy shines brightest at El Patio, their outdoor nightlife space. On Saturday nights, “Latin Saturdays” bring top DJs spinning reggaeton, salsa, merengue and more. And on June 13th, they’ll host a special live concert featuring Sonora Santanera and La Sonora Dinamita—together on stage for the first time—for a night of endless cumbias.

In addition, La Casa de las Flores will be celebrating Frida’s Birthday Bash Festival on July 5th, starting at noon. The all-day, family-friendly cultural event honors the legacy of Frida Kahlo. More details will be shared soon on their social media channels.

Looking ahead, Daniel says the focus is on growth and excellence—improving dishes, drinks, and overall guest experience. With plans to expand to the West Valley by 2027, La Casa de las Flores continues to bloom as one of the Valley’s most unique and beloved dining destinations.
